RITZ-CARLTON DINING

The celebrated international flair of Hong Kong is reflected in the restaurants at The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong. The hotel's five restaurants have become popular gathering places: The Café2, The Chater Lounge, Toscana, Lai Kar Heen, Sakaegawa and Shanghai-Shanghai. The cuisine at The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong reflects the company's commitment to fine dining, a tradition which has its roots in the philosophy of Escoffier and celebrated hotelier Cesar Ritz.

  

THE CAFÉ2(

The Café2 is the hotel's all-day dining restaurant. The extensive selection of international fare is prepared by Chef Damian McManamon whose specialty lies in Pacific Rim Cuisine. The Café2 serves only the best quality beef which is imported fresh from the Rocky Mountain foothills in Alberta, Canada. All the seafood featured on the menu and in the seafood buffet is imported from Australia, New Zealand and the United States, ensuring freshness.

Dishes include Hainan-style Chicken, Nova Scotia Lobster, Trio of Chargrilled Veal Medallion, Australian Lamb Chops and The Ritz-Carlton Caesar Salad.

High ceilings, warm pastel colours and tall palms complement the spectacular view of Victoria Harbour. The 108-seat Café2 is open daily for breakfast from 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., lunch from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and dinner from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

 

THE CHATER LOUNGE

The Chater Lounge offers a light buffet lunch with a carvery section from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Fine Chinese art provides the perfect setting for a traditional afternoon tea, served daily from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.. The tea includes a selection of fine Fauchon teas, finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones and pastries.

For cocktails, The Chater Lounge offers a comfortable 80-seat alternative to hard wooden stools and loud, brash music. Live music, featuring jazz and soft rock, energizes the atmosphere from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. Mondays to Wednesdays and from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Thursdays to Saturdays. Full bar service is available from 10 a.m. to 12:00 a.m.

 

TOSCANA

The hotel's 70-seat Italian dining room features the flavours of Chef Umberto Bombana's innovative and regional Tuscan cuisine. The restaurant's warm, intimate feeling is ideal for a business engagement or private dinner.

Signature dishes of Toscana include Linguine all'Astice e Zucchini (Linguine with Lobster and Zucchini), Costoletta di Vitello con Crema di Porcini (Grilled Veal Chop with Porcini Mushroom Cream) and Spaghetti al Frutti di Mare e Nero di Seppia (Seafood Spaghetti with Squid Ink).

An antipasti buffet is available with any entree or as a meal option. A grappa cart filled with mouth-blown glass bottles in unique shapes provides potent after-dinner drinks.

Toscana offers three elegant private dining rooms for business lunches or special occasions and is open Mondays to Saturdays for lunch from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and dinner from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. and on Sundays evenings from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

 

LAI KAR HEEN

Traditional Cantonese cuisine is featured in an intimate setting. Open daily for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and dinner from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.

 

SAKAEGAWA

This restaurant serves Japanese cuisine and features a sushi bar and private tatami rooms. Open daily for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and dinner from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

 

SHANGHAI-SHANGHAI

This art-deco furnished establishment hails back to the Shanghai of the 1930's and features live performances of songs from Shanghai, circa 1930. Open daily for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., dinner from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. with a late supper available from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.

 

THE BAR

A relaxing setting overlooking the skyline of Central and the Peak, serving cocktails and light snacks. Open daily from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. with Happy Hour from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Room Service: For those guests who prefer the privacy and quiet of their guest room, The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong offers an extensive room service menu, available 24 hours a day.

Dress Code: The dress code is smart-casual, though suits with tie are prominent during the week days. All outlets accept smart-casual attire, however a jacket and tie is recommended for gentlemen in Toscana.
